It’s been a while since you’ve seen them.
You’ve been busy, lazy, unmotivated, depressed, take your pick. Bottom line, you haven’t been putting in the work, haven’t been progressing, haven’t been trying to get better.
Today though, today you dig deep, push everything else aside. As you walk through the doors, you have an uneasy feeling, a pit in your stomach. A feeling of guilt. Shame.
But there they are. Smiling, happy to see you. They don’t ask why you haven’t been around, don’t scold you for going missing for a while. They only ask how you’ve been, only hope you’ve been doing ok. No judgements, no insults. Only love and caring. They know you’ve come to work They’re the ones that push you, support you. They lean on you and you lean on them. You share something with them that can’t be explained, only experienced.
You chose them.
They accepted you.
They treat you like family… because you are.
