Go to school, go to work, go to the gym, go to church, the same thing every day, every week, every year. Knowledge will empower us, money will sustain us, fitness will keep us healthy, faith will fulfill us. This is the modern social paradigm.
And yet there’s something missing, something inside. We can’t put our finger on it but there’s a gap, a void within us. We do all these things to distract us, to make us feel whole. But they don’t. It’s unavoidable, always with us. Everything we do only makes the feeling more obvious. Emptiness.
It’s a terrible feeling, like there’s something, somewhere you’re missing out on. It’s troubling, potentially devastating. Anxiety, depression, sadness.
Perhaps this feeling stems from wanting more, demanding more of ourselves and our lives than the safe and ordinary. Instead of settling for the normal, we want abnormal, different, extraordinary. Maybe the emptiness…
