You missed, lost, failed. You didn’t come through, said the wrong thing, spoke up at the wrong time. You played the wrong hand, picked the wrong horse, bet on the wrong team, married the wrong person. Every new experience brings new setbacks.
Setbacks test the fiber of our personalities. Are we strong enough, disciplined enough, to continue? Are we smart enough, patient enough, to walk away when we need to? When faced with a similar situation, have we learned enough to do it differently?
While setbacks are never a pleasurable experience, we can take solace in the fact that setbacks mean we tried, we experienced, we lived. Without failure, we never know our limits.
Give it shot, try something new, learn from your mistakes.
